The existing gradients of photoshop are not good enough for creating web 2 style logos or buttons.

You specially need some graidents with borders.  The top link provides easy download of web 2 layer styles for photoshop.

You might have searched for lots of resources on transparent PNG with Google or any other top search engines. 

But a recent better solution is not yet top on google.  But tops in CSS community.
